Spanish company RIU Hotels attended once again the Berlin Tourist Fair with a stand of its own at Pavilion 1.2 that really packed a wallop in the audience with pictures and images of its newest establishments and destinations.

RIU execs briefed on the company’s program of grand openings scheduled for 2003, as well as a variety of new destinations that will jump on the giant’s bandwagon in the next couple of years.

RIU Hotels & Resorts owns 98 facilities in 11 countries and a payroll of 13,000 employees. Specialized in sun-and-beach vacations, RIU is partnered with Germany-based tour operator TUI. The Spanish company saw the light of day 50 years ago in Playa de Palma as a small-fry business owned by the Riu family. Today, RIU is the world’s 34th largest hotel chain.
