The Road Is Being Paved for CMEx, the meeting on Sustainable Tourism in the Caribbean
Preparations are in full swing in Port of Spain, Trinidad-Tobago, for the February 25th CMExPress, the successful Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism that has been held across the region for the past three years.
Organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), in collaboration with the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the gathering has as its overall motto Keeping the Right Balance, acknowledging that the sustainability of tourism in the Caribbean requires proper co-ordination and the co-operation.
The participants will also look into the need of maintaining the balance between economic, environmental and social development.
The Conference would focus on the initiatives taken in the Caribbean to contribute to the sustainable development of our tourism industry and the potential use of Ecotourism as an instrument to achieve this goal. The host destination, Tobago, would be one of the case studies.
This time, journalists from Trinidad, the Caribbean and North America will also discuss Sports Tourism and the region´s hosting of the 2007 World Cup Cricket competition.
