Sabre Reports Earnings Uptick, Signs Visa Partnership

Sabre has reported a 9.3 per cent increase in revenue, to $984 million, for the three months to June 30th.
The Texas-based company’s Travel Network distribution arm saw year-on-year booking volumes grow by 7.6 per cent to 122,864, while revenues up 13.2 per cent to $720 million.
At the same time the travel technology giant’s airline solutions division saw revenues decrease 2.4 per cent.
Overall adjusted operating income decreased marginally by 0.3 per cent to $172 million for the quarter, while adjusted earnings per share grew 5.7 per cent to $0.37. Adjusted gross profit was up 1.4 per cent to $374 million.
Also announced earlier, Visa has partnered with Sabre that will see the travel technology firm use the payment specialist’s Cybersource payment management platform to bring an integrated reservation and fraud management solution to airlines, hotels, travel agencies and other organizations.
With Cybersource, Sabre says it will be able to provide a full suite of payment acceptance, fraud management and authentication services to its customers.
Fernando Souza, vice president of global merchant travel solutions at Visa, said: “As the traveler journey becomes increasingly more digital, a fast, secure payment experience across channels and enabled on multiple devices is vital for success.
One solution available through Cybersource is Decision Manager, which helps travel companies identify fraud more accurately and with less manual intervention.
Users can also utilize payment acceptance features, one of which connects approximately 120 acquirers in more than 190 countries and in over 50 currencies.
They will also be able to deploy new and emerging digital payments options for their customers, including Visa Checkout.
