The Sandals Carlyle in Montego Bay, Jamaica, will remain a Sandals resort because repeat customers want it that way, said Butch Stewart, founder and chairman of Sandals Resorts International.

Sandals in September announced plans to rebrand the resort as the Grand Pineapple Beach Montego Bay, but reversed the decision based on guest feedback.

"We had been discussing the rebrand for a long time and the rationale was sound, but ultimately [guests] spoke and we listened," Stewart said.

Stewart called the Sandals Carlyle "one of our best-loved hotels within the company and among our guests."

"Over the years, it has gained a hugely popular fan base that loves its simple tradition of Caribbean hospitality and intimate personal service," Stewart said.

The 52-room resort, located on Montego Bay's Hip Strip near shopping, dining and nightlife, was acquired by Sandals in 1985. It features three restaurants, a small beach and nightly entertainment.

The property will undergo minor enhancements in the near future, according to Sandals.
