Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort Reopens
AMResorts’ Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort, has reopened in the aftermath of Hurricane Odile. In a bit of a coup for the resort, the Nov. 15 reopening coincided with the third annual Los Cabos International Film Festival, enabling the property to accommodate some high profile guests.
With the airport open, and many restaurants and attractions operational, Secrets Puerto Los Cabos officials said they are gearing up for a busy winter season.
AMResorts Secrets Marquis Los Cabos is slated to reopen on Dec. 20, and Zoëtry Casa del Mar and Dreams Los Cabos on March 1.
Eduardo Segura, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, said 7,100 of 14,000 rooms are now open, with 10,000 rooms expected to be operational by December.
The Los Cabos International Airport is now accepting 35 domestic and international flights daily and is expected to be 100 percent operational by year’s end.
Nine of 12 golf courses are open, with three more opening next month. The Palmilla Golf Course will reopen in March.
The Quivira Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and El Cardonal, located at Diamante, which will be Tiger Woods’ first completed 18-hole course, are slated to open on Dec. 4 and 16 respectively.
Some 30,000 Los Cabos area tourists were stranded in hotel shelters in the aftermath Hurricane Odile, which walloped the destination in mid September with winds of 115 to 120 miles an hour.
Although the destination was devastated by the hurricane, its road to recovery has been remarkably swift.
“Since the major tourism infrastructure, including roads, was not damaged during Hurricane Odile, help and aid was able to arrive very quickly following the storm,” said Segura. “We are extremely proud of the rapid rate of recovery throughout the destination and are grateful for the support of the local, state and federal government in getting Los Cabos back up and running in record time.”
