St. Lucia to Add 2,000 Guestrooms over Four Years

St. Lucia's tourism stock will expand by 2,000 rooms over the next four years, according to the tourist board.

Work begins in September on the Fairmont St. Lucia on Sabwisha Beach in Choiseul on the southwestern coast. The 120-room hotel will include 37 villas, three restaurants, a spa, three pools and shops for local tradesmen.

The Reduit beach area on the west coast will be home to a 500-room, dual-branded property; 350 rooms will be a Hilton and 150 rooms will be a Curio by Hilton. Construction will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

Honeymoon Bay Resort in Cannelles on the south coast will include a 250-room, all-inclusive family hotel and an 80-room luxury boutique resort with an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse and museum.

The Black Bay Master Development on St. Lucia's southern tip will feature a 180-room luxury hotel and villas as the central anchor of the development project. Work is expected to start in the first quarter of 2018.

Sandals has confirmed plans for Sandals LaSource St. Lucia, its fourth resort in the north with 330 rooms, a rooftop infinity edge pool and a pool bar. Groundbreaking is set for 2018.

In addition to hotel developments, the island has plans to transform eight fishing villages into themed attractions focused on the island's culinary assets, architecture, history and traditions.
