Travel Sectors from Hispanic America, Spain to the Bargaining Table

Representatives of the Latin American travel industry will huddle next week in Madrid for the Iberian-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs (CIMET is the Spanish acronym), an event that will take place within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2005).

Caribbean News Digital has learned attendants will broach the present and the future of midsize and small companies within the leisure sector, as well as the internationalization of Spain´s travel industry in Iberian America.

The eighth edition of CIMET will gather representatives from Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Paraguay, Uruguay and the host nation.

FITUR organizers stated in a press release the staging of this conference, aimed at targeting small and midsize companies, is in keeping with the Spanish government´s willingness to blitz Latin America with a “second cash flow invasion.”

His Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain, is the Honorary President of this gathering organized by NEXO, a Spanish travel and publishing group, in collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Council.

The Spanish monarch will meet with Tourism Ministers and other authorities attending the one-day event, as well as with impresarios and CIMET organizers.
