Trinidad & Tobago Took Boldface Delegation to Berlin´s ITB

Trinidad & Tobago´s Tourism Minister, Sen. Howard Chin Lee, led his country´s 26-member delegation to the International Tourism Marketplace that came to a close in Berlin this week.

The representation of the Caribbean island state was formed by Neil Wilson, tourism secretary in the Trinitarian Parliament, and TIDCO President Vishnu Dhanpaul, as well as several hoteliers, tour operators and representatives of local companies that provide their services to the hospitality industry.

The delegation held talks with several airlines based in Europe, as well as with a bevy of international tour operators in an effort to make those companies zero in on Trinidad & Tobago. Negotiations on hotels and the opening of new air routes were also part of the talks.

On Saturday, the delegation from Trinidad & Tobago huddled with a group of 25 journalists with a view to give far more possibilities to international press corps and enhance the news coverage of that particular Caribbean destination.

Trinidad & Tobago inked an agreement with Austria´s Laude Airlines during last year´s ITB. The accord gave rise to a weekly flight that´s currently operating from Vienna.

The European market accounts for one of Trinidad & Tobago´s major sources of foreign trippers, with a considerable chunk of them coming from Germany and the U.K., two nations that amassed roughly 70 percent of all air arrivals to both islands.
