Two British Tourists Perish in Car Crash in Oman

Two British citizens have been killed in a car crash in Oman, while a third is in hospital with injuries, the Mirror reported Saturday.

Officials in Oman said two women were killed in the crash on the south coast of Salalah, close to the Middle Eastern country's border with Yemen.

A third Briton, a man, is said to be in a stable condition in hospital after being injured in the crash, which is believed to have happened on Thursday, the report went on to say.

Police are investigating driver culpability, and whether or not he had a license after the car veered off a road, according to a statement.

A post on social media from the Royal Oman Police said preliminary investigation “indicates that the cause of the accident is the driver's deviation from the track”. The identity of the victims, and how long they have been in Oman for, is not yet known.

Thousands of Brits visit Oman every year, and the Foreign Office says most visits are trouble-free.
