Two Popular Beach Restaurants Burned to Ashes in Anguilla

Two popular beach restaurants in Anguilla were destroyed by an overnight fire on July 11. No one was hurt. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
Johnno’s Beach Stop and Dad’s Bar & Grill, adjacent establishments on the beach in Sandy Ground, were popular day and night spots for visitors and locals.
The two restaurants were damaged in Hurricane Irma last September, and were rebuilt and reopened.
Johnno’s, known for its whole snapper and Sunday afternoons filled with live jazz music, served lunch and dinner daily and had had a presence since the 1980s in Sandy Ground.
Dad’s Bar & Grill was opened in January 2014 by Alexandra LaMaster and Delbert Mussington, a soca musician. It was known for its crayfish dishes and was the first restaurant in Anguilla to serve lionfish.
Neither restaurant was covered by insurance due to their beachfront location.
