Recognized as a well-accomplished authority on diversity marketing, Ty Christian, president and managing partner of TRC Consulting Group LLC, presented a workshop on the value and viability of emerging new consumer markets during the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) 29th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-29) that came to a close yesterday in the Bahamas.

Mr. Christian provided conference delegates with insight into how to reach previously untapped sources of potential visitors to the Caribbean. The workshop discussed how to motivate many different groups of travelers, including those emerging markets around the Caribbean, to visit nearby Caribbean territories.

“The potential of ethnic markets, especially the Black and Hispanic markets, has been underestimated. These markets are distinct from the majority population in more than just physical appearance, and it is important that our members continue to diversify their strategies to reach these vital segments,” said Hugh Riley, CTO’s director of marketing for the Americas.

Highly recognized in the field of diversity marketing, Mr. Christian has won many awards for his expertise in advertising and marketing and is a frequent speaker at workshops and conferences around the world.

A 25-year veteran of the field, Christian has worked in numerous marketing management positions with such industry leaders as GTE, J. Walter Thompson, Times Mirror, Westinghouse, Financial News Network, and Cablevision Industries.
