The Plaza America Conference Center in Varadero Beach, Cuba’s premier sun-and-sand destination, will be home to the Latin America Meetings and Incentive Trade Market (MITM) from October 28 through 30.

This time around, the gathering will hinge on prearranged business contacts and powwows aimed at boosting the sale and awareness of travel destinations and services in the Caribbean region, especially in the field of incentive travel, conventions and congresses.

In the same breath, attendants will promote and sell exclusive travel destinations throughout Latin America to an array of visiting incentive organizers and convention planners hailing from Europe and North America.

In order to assure the prearranged meeting schedule, organizers will reimburse purchasers the money they paid for their registration fees, that includes such expenditures as airfares, meals and lodging, as long as they come through their contacts.

In an effort to clinch that goal, MITM planners have organized two additional social functions and a working lunch where exhibitors and purchasers could huddle to further put their options on the table.

MITM purchasers are mostly executives vested with decision-making freedom to plan incentive travel. Others are managers of so-called incentive houses, incentive travel agencies and other event organizing firms.

A majority of purchasers come from the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and the Scandinavian countries. To a lesser degree, there’ll be participants from the United States.

On the other hand, exhibitors are exclusive tour and travel providers from Latin America, resorts, hotel chains, travel agencies, car rentals, entertainment companies, audiovisual firms, restaurants, attractions, conference centers and expositions. There’ll also be a number of public enterprises like national and regional tourism offices, hotel associations, convention bureaus and other state-run agencies.

According to the official schedule, Thursday will be reserved for accreditation and decoration of stands, wrapping things up with a welcome reception at the DuPont Mansion.

Following the opening ceremony at the Plaza America Conference Center on the 29th, the 15-minute prearranged business contacts and meetings will get underway. In addition to the working sessions, MITM organizers have pieced together a broad schedule of optional visits and tours.

Besides its many attributes as an ideal beach destination, Varadero is showing off a fusion of history and nature worth stealing a look at. There, visitors could feast eyes on the surrounding scenery and watch monuments that bring back memories of a long gone past. In neighboring Matanzas City, squares, fortresses, monuments, museums, theaters, churches, ruins of old-timed colonial mansions and a whole lot more, including valleys, caves, rivers, lagoons and a beautiful sea, will be waiting for attendants.

Varadero is a place where everything seems to fit right in: underwater tours in submarines, scuba diving in marine caves, parachuting, dolphin shows, disco clubs, nightclubs, cabarets, ballrooms, visits to neighboring cities and a golf club penciled in as one of the finest in the Caribbean, will welcome you with open arms.
