Venezuela to Host the International Caribbean Festival

The 25th edition of the International Caribbean Festival, an event that has traditionally taken place in the eastern Cuban city of Santiago de Cuba, will this time around move to Venezuela.

Scheduled for early July, the event will serve to show the development of Venezuelan culture, of Hispanic and African roots, that strengthened during the Spanish colonial rule based on a mixture of races and civilizations.

Public squares and theaters in Santiago de Cuba, though, will also put on shows of their own through various artistic performances and celebrations that are made to highlight the rich cultural legacy of all Caribbean islands and territories.

The International Caribbean Festival will equally be home to an international colloquium entitled The One Caribbean That Binds Us Together, plus a series of events that includes workshops on regional heritage, performing arts, fine arts, popular religious creeds and book presentations on Venezuelan culture.

The event is supposed to gather intellectuals and artists from several countries that recognize the Caribbean, and especially the city of Santiago de Cuba, as the perfect meeting grounds for cultural exchange.
