The World´s Largest Travel Journalism Convention Ended in Santiago de Chile
The world´s largest annual gathering of professional travel journalists came to an end in Santiago de Chile on October 23 as the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) wrapped up its 51st annual convention.
With more than 1,200 travel writers, photographers, broadcasters and associate members, SATW is the largest travel journalist organization on the planet. Approximately 500 SATW members attended the meeting in Chile.
The four-day convention consisted of professional development sessions, business meetings and story gathering opportunities in Chile´s capital.
In the past, SATW has met in such exotic locals as Thailand, Israel, Australia, India, Switzerland, Wales and Bermuda. Closer to home, it has met in Las Vegas, Orlando, Banff, Canada, and Hawaii. This will be its second meeting in South America; it met in Ecuador in 1995.
