Yucatan’s Merida to host major UN event

The UN Convention on Corruption kicked off Monday at the Siglo XXI Conference Center in Merida, Yucatan with a turnout of 1,800 delegates from the five continents.

Organizers have bent over backwards to make all conveniences available to attendants, including all kinds of telecommunication and information electronic relay services. As a matter of fact, planners have ordered a hundred phone lines be installed for the event.

During the convention, attendants will benefit from a cafeteria, a medical post, a currency exchange office, automatic tellers, a message service and even a travel agency.

The organizing committee has rented a special bus service for free shuttles from the Manuel Crecencio Rejon International Airport to hotels and the conference center.

The service will require at least a hundred deluxe buses to commute attendants between 7 am to 8 pm. Mexican law enforcement agencies will be in charge of protection and security outside the event’s venues, including the airport, hotels and social functions. For its part, the UN Surveillance and Security Service will take good care of attendants during the conference sessions.
