MSC Cruises, the Swiss-based cruise line today introduced a second ship, the recently fully refurbished MSC Armonia, to homeport in Havana alongside MSC Opera. MSC Armonia marked her traditional Maiden Call as she arrived in Havana on the final leg of her Grand Voyage from Italy.

Harvest Caye, the new private destination for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH)’ cruise brands, has welcomed its first guests, who sailed in from New Orleans onboard the Norwegian Dawn.

Now that the drama of the U.S. presidential election is in the rearview mirror, the cruise industry could see some additional openings to Cuba, Frank Del Rio, CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said. "I believe the presidential election had something to do with perhaps a deferment of making some decisions," Del Rio said. "I am hopeful that the defrosting of relations will continue. If it does, I'm confident that soon enough we will see more vacation opportunities to visit Cuba both by land and sea."

Carnival Corp. CEO Arnold Donald said that the election of Donald Trump as president has the potential to be good for the cruise industry, but he also said he hopes that Trump will do "the right thing" internationally.
