Royal Caribbean International has announced a major investment agreement with The Bahamas to help grow the destination’s tourism sector and economy.

Carnival Splendor docked at Miami as planned on Sunday morning, disembarking those passengers who sailed on last week's less-port-intensive cruise.

The archipelago reported a total of 699,105 cruise passenger arrivals last year, a 35.4 percent increase over 2015.

A new survey by Travel Leaders Group, for instance, found that nearly 22% of its leisure travel-focused travel agents have already booked clients for Cuba travel this year and 59% indicated clients have expressed an interest in traveling to Cuba in 2017.

In a safety-enhancing move, Royal Caribbean International is adding certified lifeguards at all pools across its fleet.
