
Martinique tourism officials are pushing to extend the overseas French territory’s explosive cruise ship arrivals growth of recent years. The Martinique Tourism Authority (MTA) is projecting 326,388 cruise passenger arrivals for the 2015-2016 season, a 31 percent increase over the 2014-2015 season.
Carnival Corp. has finalized details on a contract with Meyer Werft to build four next-generation cruise ships. The four ships are part of a previously announced strategic memo of understanding with Meyer Werft and Fincantieri for nine new ships orders between 2019 and 2022.
Azamara Club Cruises, the upmarket destination-focused cruise line, plans to completely renovate its two ships, the 686-passenger Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, in early 2016.

Un-Cruise Adventures has launched its 2016 schedule with nine ships setting sail to Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, Columbia and Snake Rivers, Mexico and Hawaii. The company also announced the addition of two new itineraries to The Galapagos Islands and Costa Rica and Panama regions.

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board is expecting a busy cruise year with a 16 percent increase in ship calls scheduled over 2014. And that comes on top of a 43 percent increase last year over 2013.
Six Holland America Line ships will sail 11 full transits of the Panama Canal, and one ship will offer 14 itineraries that include both the southern Caribbean and partial transits during fall 2015 through spring 2016. The cruises will range from 10 to 22 days.
