At the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) 12th Global Summit in Tokyo, three companies and one destination from four continents were recognized for their best practices in sustainable tourism as winners of the Tourism for Tomorrow awards. The four winners were selected from 12 award finalists and announced onstage during the opening ceremony of Global Summit.
Time Magazine and The Huffington Post are among the top media outlets scheduled to take part in the 2nd UNWTO International Conference on Tourism and the Media. The event, which also counts on the presence of The Independent, Deutsche Welle TV and Ogilvy Mather PR will focus on how tourism and the media can work together in challenging times (26-27 April, Marsa Alam, Egypt).
Guyana’s Prime Minister Samuel Hinds said Iwokrama has become a living lab for research into Sustainable Tropical forest management. Mr. Hinds also spoke of a number of ongoing low-carbon initiatives, including solar panels being installed in 15,000 homes in the hinterland.
