The first ILTM Americas, to take place Oct. 1 to 3 in the resort of Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, Mexico, has revealed an “overwhelming interest” from North, Central and South American agents wishing to be considered for this inaugural event.

Luxury travel suppliers from all four corners of the world have also been swift to register interest with confirmed participants already including Bulgari Hotels, &Beyond, Luxury Lodges of Australia, Wilderness Safaris, Orient-Express and The Ritz-Carlton.

An impressive lineup of speakers, representing a cross-section of the public and private sectors of the Caribbean tourism industry, has been assembled for the 16th Annual Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC), where they will address investment opportunities in the Caribbean as well as key issues facing the region.

Jamaica’s trade and investment agency, JAMPRO, recently convened the Jamaica Investment Forum 2012 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The two-day forum focused on business opportunities in Information Technology, Tourism and Manufacturing.

At the 9th Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) October 8-11, 2012, in Lucerne, Switzerland, presented by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and sponsored by Switzerland Tourism and Lucerne Tourism, Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will speak before more than 600 industry executives representing more than 50 nations.

World Travel Awards has unveiled the regional nominees for its 2012 program. The number of organizations self nominating in 2012 has increased by 17 percent year-on-year, reflecting the growing awareness of the global coverage and commercial benefits that accompany WTA success.
