New York._ The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) headquarters in Barbados and the Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas are jointly planning the 25th Annual Conference on the leisure industry in the Caribbean Basin (CTC-25) scheduled to take place from October 28 to 31 on the Bahamian islands of Lucaya and Grand Bahamas, and a projected attendance of 1,000 delegates.

Ciego de Avila, Cuba._ The coming of the August summer breeze will blow in the 3rd Exhibit Hall of Exclusive Suppliers to the Cuban tourist destination of Jardines del Rey, an extensive chain of keys stretching along the island nation’s northern shore. The hall is a technical meeting held yearly since 2000 and attended by suppliers, investors, project planners and builders summoned by Ciego de Avila’s Consulting, Engineering and Design Enterprise.

Santiago de Cuba._ Expocaribe Fair’s next edition to be held from June 8 through 13, 2003, will be devoted to Guyana, said Antonio Luis Carricarte, chairman of Cuba’s Chamber of Commerce during the closing ceremony of the 11th tradeshow that recently came to a close in Santiago de Cuba. This year’s fair was attended by 650 firms from 35 countries, 16 of them from the Caribbean Basin.Guyana had a major representation during the tradeshow with an official delegation headed by Manniran Prashad, an advisor to the nation’s President.

Havana._ With over 120 firms from nine countries, the 14th International Tradeshow of Technology and Products for the Tourist Industry -Tecnotur´2002- got underway Tuesday to come to a close Sunday in Havana’s Pabexpo fairgrounds.

San Jose._ Tourism promoters hailing from America and Europe are meeting since last Tuesday in Costa Rica’s major tradeshow –Expotur- with a view to acquire travel packages for their customers all over the world. Some 115 purchasing companies, especially from the U.S., will see with the attending 262 sales firms –mostly from Costa Rica- what their chances are to either start out or enhance operations in that Central American country.

Santa Cruz, Ecuador._ With a commitment to foster ecological tourism in Latin America, and based on sustainability criteria and bulkier credit lines for those locations developing this modality, the 1st Iberian-American Summit on Tourism and the Environment came to an end in Ecuador with the signing of the Declaration of Galapagos.
