A new study from the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council's GeoBranding Center and AIG Travel reports one in four travelers has changed vacation plans in the past year due to global or local safety, security or health concerns, with terrorism activity topping the list of reasons tourists will avoid travel to certain destinations.

While travel in general is expected to increase in 2016, according to a recent survey, projections by both leisure and business travelers were lower after the November 13 attacks on Paris than before.

"You're going to have to be a little more patient before you see any Cuban cigars advertised in future online cigar store emails," writes CigarAdvisor.com editor Gary Korb, who recently attended a conference in Miami titled, "Preparing for Trade with Cuba."

The atrocious terrorist attacks in Paris brought the world to a standstill, and as to be expected, cruise travel to the region has been affected to varying degrees as well.

In 38 years of holding annual conferences, Caribbean Central America Action has never held a meeting that has focused almost exclusively on a single topic and a single country.

It hasn’t been easy for the residents of Acapulco over the last several years. Tourism, a major artery for the city’s business development, has been almost completely severed in recent years as violence escalated and warring cartels held the iconic beach destination captive.
