Following a rebound year for Caribbean travel with increased competition throughout the region, the Cayman Islands has maintained its market share with another year of record-breaking statistical arrivals.
Saint Lucia has recorded its best performance ever in visitor arrivals, as it welcomed 1,218,294 visitors in 2018.
Antigua and Barbuda welcomed over one million visitors to the destination in 2018, topping 2017 figures and leading Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism the Honorable Charles Fernandez to call 2018, “A record-setting year for Antigua and Barbuda.”
The Japan National Tourism Organization has announced that more than 30 million overseas travelers visited Japan in 2018, an all-time record and an 8.7 percent increase over 2017 (the previous record year).
The new record is 1.5 million visitors higher than 2017’s total – a 3.1 percent increase – marking the eighth-consecutive year of tourism growth for Los Angeles.
The Turkish Culture and Tourism minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced the “70 million tourists with $70 billion revenue” program to meet the 2023 target.
