The US Treasury Department announced it would continue easing travel and export restrictions for Cuba as part of the ongoing effort to improve diplomatic relations.

Cuba’s tourism industry is under unprecedented strain and struggling to meet demand with record numbers of visitors arriving a year after détente with the US’s renewed interest in Cuba.

Mexico City tourism authorities expect 29.653 million tourist arrivals this year, representing a total increase of 1.7% over 2015, according to an announcement from that city’s Director of Tourism, Torruco Miguel Márquez.

Travel Leaders Group released its top luxury travel trends for 2016 including the top up-and-coming destinations led by Cuba. The list also includes African Safaris, Iceland and Antarctica.

The twin island state of Antigua & Barbuda in the Caribbean saw an impressive double digit visitor growth every month from March to November 2015.

International tourist arrivals grew by 4.4 percent in 2015 to reach a total of 1,184 million in 2015, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Some 50 million more tourists (overnight visitors) travelled to international destinations around the world last year as compared to 2014.
