The Secretary General of the UNWTO and Minister Alain St. Ange were greeted by the Kenya’s PS for Tourism and the MD of the Kenya Tourism Board.

UNWTO is deeply saddened and shocked by the attack in Bangkok, Thailand. On the behalf of the global tourism community, UNWTO offers its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims and reiterates its full support to the people and the Government of Thailand.

Almost all regions enjoyed strong growth with the Americas leading growth and by sub-region, Oceania and South America boasted the strongest increase (both 8 percent), followed by the Caribbean.

UNWTO called for higher support for tourism in international financing for development flows to maximize the sector´s contribution to sustainable development across the globe.

UNWTO has opened the call for applications for the 12th edition of the UNWTO Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Tourism. Tourism initiatives from around the world are encouraged to apply before 30 October 2015.
