Dominican airline Arajet continues its rapid growth, mirroring the expansion of the country’s tourism industry as one of the Caribbean’s leading destinations. At World Travel Expo Miami, Jessica Weiner, Arajet’s Vice President of Sales and Distribution, shared the latest updates on the airline’s strategy and upcoming routes.

Focus on the U.S. Market

Weiner revealed that Arajet will soon launch several new U.S. routes, underscoring its commitment to strengthening this key market. Highlights include Miami–Santo Domingo, Miami–Punta Cana, and Newark–Santo Domingo, as well as additional connections such as Chicago–Punta Cana, Boston–Santo Domingo, Orlando–Punta Cana, Newark–Punta Cana, and Punta Cana–Córdoba. More flights are expected to be announced before the end of the year.

Currently, Arajet operates with a fleet of twelve Boeing 737-8 aircraft, all less than three years old, making it the youngest fleet in North America and one of the youngest worldwide. The airline plans to expand to 19 aircraft next year, further reinforcing its ambitious growth strategy.

Dominican Republic: A Strategic Hub

Weiner emphasized the Dominican Republic’s importance as a strategic hub. Arajet has become the third-largest airline in passenger volume to the country, competing with both domestic and international carriers. Today, Arajet serves 28 destinations in 16 countries and has carried over 2.8 million travelers in the past three years.

This expansion reflects the vision of Víctor Pacheco, Arajet’s CEO and founder, who dreamed of positioning the Dominican Republic as a connection hub for the Caribbean and North America.

“Of the passengers we transport, approximately 20% are connecting travelers. This proves that every day we are strengthening and consolidating our proposal as the hub of the Americas,” Weiner concluded.
