Alaska Airlines has reaffirmed its dedication to technological innovation and environmental sustainability by renewing its partnership with Air Space Intelligence (ASI). This renewed collaboration centers around ASI's Flyways AI platform, which has been instrumental in optimizing Alaska's flight operations, enhancing fuel efficiency, and advancing the airline's goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions.

For the past four years, Alaska Airlines has integrated ASI's Flyways AI and Dispatch application into its Network Operations Center. The platform has significantly contributed to operational efficiency by providing advanced route optimization, reducing fuel consumption, and minimizing carbon emissions. Notably, Flyways AI has enabled optimization for 55% of Alaska's flights, delivering between three to five percent fuel savings on long-haul flights. In the previous year alone, these optimizations saved over 1.2 million gallons of fuel and reduced CO2 emissions by 11,958 megatons, aiding Alaska Airlines in its quest to become the most fuel-efficient U.S. airline by 2025.

Captain Bret Peyton, Managing Director of Network Operations Control at Alaska Airlines, emphasized the platform's value. "The Flyways AI platform has proven to be an invaluable asset," Peyton said. "It provides our dispatch team with an advanced situation display for flight planning and enroute monitoring, driving fuel savings, reducing emissions, and ensuring a reliable travel experience for our guests."

Flyways AI leverages sophisticated algorithms and machine learning to analyze extensive data sets, including weather conditions, airspace constraints, and traffic volume. This analysis allows the platform to generate optimized route recommendations that enhance safety, comply with air traffic control regulations, reduce fuel consumption, and avoid congested airspaces. The Flyways Dispatch application further supports dispatchers with real-time insights and decision-making capabilities, enabling proactive flight management and response to potential issues before they impact operations.

Phillip Buckendorf, CEO of Air Space Intelligence, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the partnership. "We are elated to continue our collaboration with Alaska Airlines," Buckendorf said. "The success of our partnership to date showcases the transformative power of artificial intelligence in aviation and underscores our shared commitment to leveraging AI for greater efficiency and sustainability."

This renewed partnership highlights Alaska Airlines' ongoing efforts to lead in aviation innovation while prioritizing environmental responsibility. By continuing to integrate cutting-edge AI technology into its operations, Alaska Airlines aims to further its impact on creating a more efficient and eco-friendly future for air travel.
