Globalia Steps Up Digital Transformation with Focus on Innovation, AI

Globalia

Spanish tourism giant Globalia is taking a major leap forward in its evolution, launching a company-wide digital transformation strategy aimed at redefining its operations across aviation, hospitality, and travel services. With a strong emphasis on AI integration, biometric technologies, and sustainability, the group is reshaping itself into a tech-driven, eco-conscious ecosystem.

At the forefront of this transformation is Air Europa, Globalia’s flagship airline, which now offers biometric boarding, digital check-ins, and AI-based flight optimization tools. A standout initiative is the deployment of OptiClimb, a system that calculates the most fuel-efficient climb profiles for aircraft. The airline estimates the system helps reduce over 10,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, underscoring its commitment to eco-efficient travel.

Innovation is not a department—it's a culture,” said Javier Hidalgo, former CEO of Globalia. “We're embedding technology and sustainability into every layer of the organization.

Beyond aviation, Globalia is modernizing its other brands—Halcón Viajes, Travelplan, and Be Live Hotels—through data analytics, automated customer service, and dynamic pricing models. These tools aim to meet the expectations of today's travelers who value speed, personalization, and transparency.

The group’s transformation also serves a larger purpose: environmental stewardship. Initiatives such as energy-efficient operations, fleet modernization, and ethical governance are aligned with broader EU climate goals.

Globalia is also forging partnerships with startups and tech incubators to adopt blockchain for transaction transparency and AI forecasting for smarter planning.

This comprehensive shift positions Globalia not just as a traditional travel provider but as a pioneering force in the future of sustainable, technology-enhanced tourism.
