Madrid Draws Record Growth from American and LATAM Visitors

Madrid has reported a 1.8% year-over-year increase in visitor numbers, driven largely by travelers from the Americas (especially the U.S. and Mexico).
Nearly half of all international arrivals to Madrid in July 2025 came from the Americas, with overnight stays by American tourists up by substantial percentages.
The increased traffic has prompted more offerings in long-haul flight services, marketing targeting those markets, and improving service amenities to cater to these visitors.
For Madrid’s hospitality sector—hotels, restaurants, cultural attractions—this growth represents a significant economic boost, especially because these visitors tend to spend more per stay than many regional short-haul tourists.
It also reflects shifting global travel patterns: U.S. and Latin American traveler outbound flows are becoming more important for European destinations.
The challenge for Madrid will be to maintain quality of experience amid higher demand, ensure infrastructure is not overstretched, and manage any negative externalities (traffic, noise, cost of living for locals).
