St. Lucia Further Loosens Covid Travel Restrictions

St. Lucia is further easing restrictions on visitors to the Caribbean island as part of a phased reopening of the tourism industry, TTG Media reports.

Holidaymakers can now stay in up to two Covid-certified properties during their stay, as well as being able to take part in water-based activities such as scuba diving and sailing.

More hotels and resorts in Saint Lucia are also securing Covid certification that will allow them to reopen - Marigot Bay Resort, Spa and Marina and Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort are both scheduled to reopen to guests in October.

Tourism minister Dominic Fedee said: “We are encouraged by the figures that currently show Saint Lucia is leading the way in the Caribbean region with the lowest number of Covid-19 cases per capita.

“We are certainly not complacent, and the measures we have put in place have helped us to achieve such a positive record. These results will show potential visitors that our responsible approach to re-opening and providing a safe environment for a holiday is a good reason to choose Saint Lucia.”

The island has welcomed more than 4,000 visitors since reopening its borders to tourists on 9 July.

The destination is currently exempt from the UK Foreign Office advice against all non-essential travel and also has a travel corridor with the UK meaning those returning from Saint Lucia do not have to quarantine for 14 days.

Visitors to St. Lucia ought to provide a negative Covid-19 test taken up to seven days before the date of travel, as well as completing an online pre-arrival registration form.
