Alaska Airlines began welcoming guests to its new and cutting-edge space at San Francisco International Airport's Harvey Milk Terminal 1.

This relocation from Terminal 2, a two-year, multimillion-dollar project, underscores Alaska Airlines' commitment to providing a premium and enhanced guest experience as the largest carrier at Harvey Milk Terminal 1.

This new location will soon feature the second-largest lounge in Alaska's network, reflecting the airline's dedication to guest care and comfort. The lounge, set to open next month, will complete the transition to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 and offer numerous amenities, including an expanded seating area, a barista-staffed coffee bar, and complimentary West Coast wines, spirits, and craft brews.

Being closer to fellow oneworld Alliance members and global partners at the new terminal, Alaska Airlines will provide seamless connectivity for domestic and international flights. From SFO, Alaska and its partners offer over 130 weekly flights to 18 international destinations.

In a bid to reduce congestion and long lines, Alaska Airlines introduces automated bag drops at SFO, becoming the first airline at the airport to offer this service. Guests can now print bag tags and drop off checked luggage at automated units, ensuring a quick and efficient check-in process. Customer service agents will be available to assist those needing extra help.

"Our new home in San Francisco International Airport's Harvey Milk Terminal 1 delivers a world-class experience that our guests will love while supporting our goals of innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth," said Shane Jones, senior vice president of fleet and real estate at Alaska Airlines. "We're excited to make this move for the approximately 5 million passengers we serve at SFO each year, positioning us for future growth at our largest hub in California."

The new space features ample seating with power outlets, more gates for increased flights, shorter taxi times, and faster runway access, aiming to save time and reduce fuel consumption. In July, the 11,000 square foot lounge will open, offering 55% more seating and San Francisco-inspired touches throughout.

This relocation comes just in time for the peak travel season. Alaska Airlines is offering the most flights from San Francisco to major West Coast cities, including up to eleven daily flights to Seattle, six to Portland, and seven to San Diego. New service to Burbank has also been launched, with three nonstop options daily.

The new Harvey Milk Terminal 1 location connects seamlessly to global airline partners, allowing easy international travel without the need to pass through additional security checkpoints. Guests can book flights directly on 24 partner airlines or redeem Mileage Plan miles on the Alaska Airlines website.

This $30 million relocation to Harvey Milk Terminal 1 is part of a larger $3 billion investment in infrastructure aimed at enhancing the guest experience at major West Coast hubs. Upcoming projects include a new lobby at Portland International Airport in August and a comprehensive overhaul of Terminal 6 at Los Angeles International Airport by the end of July.
