Arajet, the Caribbean's low-cost airline, has signed an agreement with the Puntacana Group to begin operations at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) starting November 1.

This move will make Punta Cana Airport Arajet's second base, significantly expanding its network of destinations and connections across the continent. The announcement was made by Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, and Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet. They emphasized that this partnership will greatly increase the number of passengers transported by Arajet, bolstering visitor arrivals in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

Pacheco highlighted that this new base will allow the popular tourist area to connect with Arajet's extensive network of over 200 destination combinations, while maintaining its central base at Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo. He expressed a commitment to making Arajet the airline for all Dominicans, aiming to serve all airports in the country with the lowest market prices.

Rainieri expressed gratitude towards Arajet for their confidence in Punta Cana Airport, viewing the partnership as a means to promote tourism and economic growth in the country. He noted that the new routes would enhance the airport's international connectivity, reinforcing its status as the Dominican Republic's most important airport.

Punta Cana Airport is known for its innovation and growth, handling 68% of the country's tourist air traffic, connecting with 75 cities in 34 countries via 58 airlines, and serving over 9 million passengers annually. Arajet's operations at Punta Cana will commence on November 1, with specific destinations to be announced later. This will make Punta Cana Arajet's third operational base in the Dominican Republic, alongside its regular flights at Cibao International Airport and potential future operations from Puerto Plata International Airport.

Arajet has been the Dominican airline with the highest passenger movement in the first four months of 2024, representing 8% of the country's total air passengers in May. The airline continues to commit to the development of commercial aviation, offering memorable travel experiences with the highest international standards.
