Caribbean Airlines Discontinues Key Routes as Hub Restructuring Begins
As of January 12, 2026, Caribbean Airlines has officially ended its service to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
This move is part of a sweeping "Network Optimization Programme" aimed at trimming underperforming routes and improving financial sustainability.
The airline also confirmed that its operational hub in Barbados will be restructured by February, with aircraft and crew being repositioned to Trinidad.
While the state-owned carrier focuses on route efficiency, the suspension has sparked concern among business travelers in the Eastern Caribbean who rely on these inter-island links.
Travelers with confirmed bookings after January 10 are currently being processed for full refunds. In the wake of these exits, interCaribbean Airways has stepped up, celebrating its 10th year of service to the BVI and reassuring the region that it remains a "steadfast partner" in maintaining vital regional connectivity.
