In a landmark agreement, Qatar Airways and Boeing have announced the airline's largest-ever aircraft order: up to 210 widebody jets, including 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, with options for 50 more. The deal, signed in a high-profile ceremony attended by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is now the largest widebody aircraft order in Boeing's history.

This strategic purchase not only reinforces Qatar Airways' growth ambitions but is also expected to support approximately 400,000 jobs across the United States. Boeing highlighted that the order will strengthen its position as a key player in long-haul commercial aviation, with the 787 and 777X families offering significant fuel and emissions savings.

The ceremony was held in Doha and featured prominent figures including Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Stephanie Pope. Al-Meer emphasized that this order reflects the airline’s long-term vision to build “the cleanest, youngest, and most efficient fleet” in global aviation.

The 787 Dreamliner family has been a cornerstone of Boeing’s widebody portfolio, offering a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency and a modern passenger experience. With this new order, Qatar Airways is set to become the largest operator of the Dreamliner in the Middle East, further enhancing its long-haul network and sustainability commitments.

The 777-9, Boeing’s next-generation twin-aisle aircraft, is designed to reduce fuel use and emissions by 25% while offering increased range and passenger comfort. The inclusion of these aircraft will allow Qatar Airways to expand into new markets and offer enhanced connectivity on its busiest routes.

Qatar Airways already operates over 150 Boeing aircraft and has been a long-standing partner of the American aerospace giant. As both companies look ahead to a decade of production and delivery, this historic agreement signals a shared commitment to innovation, global connectivity, and sustainable growth in commercial aviation.
