WestJet, Copa Airlines Open New Caribbean Routes for Canadian Travelers

Canadian travelers will have many more options to enjoy the Caribbean this winter thanks to a new interline agreement signed between WestJet and Copa Airlines.
The partnership connects WestJet’s North American network with Copa’s extensive regional reach through its hub in Panama City, allowing Canadian passengers seamless access to a wide range of destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Starting December 13, 2025, WestJet will launch direct service from Calgary to Panama City, with four weekly frequencies. From there, travelers can continue on to multiple Caribbean islands and coastal cities, with a single ticket and checked luggage through to their final destination.
Among the experiences now within reach for Canadians are strolling the colonial streets of Cartagena or Santa Marta on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, diving in the crystal-clear waters of Belize, or soaking in the laid-back atmosphere of Curaçao. Travelers will also be able to discover lesser-known gems such as San Andrés Island off Colombia’s coast or the vibrant capital of Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.
This expansion of access reinforces WestJet’s strategy of connecting Canadians with the world’s top sun-and-leisure destinations, while also opening the door to exploring Caribbean corners that were previously harder to reach.
“This new interline agreement will increase access to destinations in Central and South America for Canadian travelers,” said John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at WestJet. “We remain focused on connecting our customers with the most popular sun-and-leisure destinations this winter.”
For Canadian travelers, winter 2025 is no longer just about escaping south—it’s about discovering a broader and more diverse Caribbean, with the convenience of an integrated journey and more connection options.
