CHTA Celebrates Excellence with 2024 CHIEF Awards

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) unveiled the winners of its 2024 CHIEF Awards at the Caribbean Hotel Industry Exchange Forum, celebrating outstanding achievements in hospitality and tourism.

Recognized for innovation, sustainability, and community impact, winners were announced across five categories: Environmental Sustainability, Innovative Sales and Marketing, People Development, Social Responsibility, and Technology Transformation.

Environmental Sustainability honors went to Ti Kaye Resort & Spa, which impressed with its initiatives to cut fossil fuel electricity use by 50% and expand composting and solar energy programs. Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) was the finalist for tackling plastic pollution by coordinating waste collection among member hotels.

In Innovative Sales and Marketing, The Rockley by Ocean Hotels Barbados claimed the top spot for integrating local Bajan culture into its renovated property, while Bolongo Bay Beach Resort was recognized for leveraging TikTok to drive revenue growth.

People Development was led by Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, Aruba, which enhanced its holistic employee care programs, adding AI tools and gender-specific healthcare. The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) was a finalist, with Ocean Hotels Barbados Ltd. receiving a special mention for its initiatives.

For Social Responsibility, GHTA was awarded for supporting hurricane recovery efforts and promoting resilience. Finalists included Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort for environmental initiatives and Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa for community investments and education.

Technology Transformation went to Caille Blanc Villa & Hotel, which introduced “Jacqbot,” an AI-powered chatbot addressing guest inquiries. The Anything Group was a finalist for its innovative all-in-one booking platform.

CHTA President Sanovnik Destang commended winners for advancing the region’s hospitality standards: “By recognizing excellence, we inspire others across the Caribbean to innovate and lead.” He also highlighted initiatives like Taste of the Caribbean and the Young Leaders Program as vital for cultivating talent and strengthening the industry.

Keynote speaker Gregory G. Habeeb of WorldHotels North America emphasized how technology can support genuine guest experiences while enhancing sustainability and diversity. The evening concluded with appreciation for CHIEF’s sponsors, whose support ensured the event’s success.
