ITB Berlin 2025: Focus on Sustainable Tourism and Social Responsibility

From March 4 to 6, ITB Berlin 2025 will establish itself as a benchmark for sustainability and social responsibility in the travel industry. With high-level panels, initiatives from exhibitors from 26 countries in the Responsible Tourism segment, and award ceremonies for outstanding projects, the trade show will showcase strategies to promote more sustainable tourism.
ITB Berlin reaffirms its commitment to social and ecological responsibility, fostering dialogue on diversity and inclusion throughout the tourism value chain. For the first time, it is collaborating with the Menschen helfen Menschen (People Help People) project, allowing exhibitors to purchase food bags for donation to this Berlin-based charity. Additionally, attendees will be able to acquire a public transport ticket along with their entrance pass, thanks to a partnership with Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG).
The Responsible Tourism Hall 4.1 will be the hub of sustainable tourism, featuring over 80 exhibitors from 26 countries presenting climate-friendly business models and certified concepts. Notable participants include Travelife, with 40 co-exhibitors, the European Centre for Eco and Agri Tourism (ECEAT) with an expanded stand, and atmosfair and Myclimate, showcasing carbon offset projects.
New participants include the Thai Responsible Tourism Association and Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas from France, exhibiting sustainable travel products for Indonesia, Tanzania, and the Philippines. Additionally, Pacific island nations such as Palau and Tonga will participate to raise awareness of the impact of climate change. The mascontour Responsible Tourism Lounge will again serve as a networking hub for developing sustainable concepts.
The ITB Berlin Convention will also highlight sustainability. On March 4, the Diversity & Inclusion Track on the Green Stage will address diversity and equality in the industry. On March 5, the Blue Stage will host the Destination Track, featuring a key debate titled "Is Tourism Coming to an End?", analyzing governance and innovation in the sector. That same day, the Women's Empowerment in Tourism session, supported by BMZ and UN Women, will highlight the crucial role of women in the industry.
On March 6, the Responsible Tourism Track on the Orange Stage will discuss topics such as climate impact and sustainable practices. Key sessions include "Ground Zero Sustainability" and "Speed Dating with Sustainable Solutions", featuring experts like Dr. Ellen Madeker (Airbnb) presenting climate-friendly solutions. Additionally, the new Corporate Culture Clash Track on the Green Stage will explore the evolution of corporate culture, covering topics like technology and Generation Z.
Finally, the ITB Transition Labs will offer exclusive events with innovative approaches to tourism and sustainability, solidifying ITB Berlin as the epicenter of responsible tourism and sustainable development.
