San Diego Kicks Off Tianguis Turístico 2025 Activities with “Window to Mexico” Festival

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism officially kicked off pre-event activities for Tianguis Turístico 2025 in the United States with the opening of the “Window to Mexico” festival at Liberty Station in San Diego. The two-day festival, open to the public on April 26 and 27, aims to showcase the rich cultural, artistic, craft, and culinary traditions of Mexico, while promoting the country’s diverse tourism offerings to both American and Mexican audiences.
The opening ceremony was led by Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, alongside Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. In her remarks, Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that the cultural showcase is part of a broader activation strategy in Baja California and California, designed to make this edition of Tianguis Turístico the first to formally invite both Mexicans and American tourists to celebrate the premier tourism event of the Americas.
The “Window to Mexico” festival features exhibits from more than 28 Mexican states, including participation from 18 traditional cooks and 25 artisans, who are displaying ancestral products and techniques. The event also offers live performances of traditional Mexican dance and hands-on activities that allow visitors to experience the depth and richness of Mexico’s cultural heritage.

Prior to the official opening, Rodríguez Zamora toured the Baja California Center, where the Tianguis Turístico 2025 will be hosted, confirming that all facilities are ready to welcome attendees and participants.
The Secretary of Tourism highlighted that these efforts underscore Mexico’s commitment to strengthening tourism, trade, and cultural ties with the United States, fostering greater exchange and international promotion of Mexican destinations.
The free event in San Diego not only celebrates Mexican traditions and arts but also reinforces Mexico’s position as a vibrant and diverse tourism destination for both American and Mexican travelers, ahead of what promises to be one of the most significant editions of Tianguis Turístico in the history of Mexican tourism.
