WTTC Reveals Final Speaker Line-Up for 24th Global Summit in Perth

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has unveiled the full list of distinguished speakers for its 24th Global Summit, set to take place from October 8-10 in Perth, Western Australia. Headlining the event are former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, son of Steve Irwin.

In a fireside chat with WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson, Kerry will discuss his experiences in global diplomacy, focusing on building alliances and fostering international cooperation for a more sustainable future. Meanwhile, Robert Irwin will share captivating stories from his wildlife adventures, highlighting the crucial role Travel & Tourism can play in preserving nature while celebrating it.

This year’s summit, themed "Ancient Land: New Perspectives," will emphasize Australia’s unique cultural heritage and its commitment to sustainable innovation. Key figures like Greg O’Hara, WTTC Chair, and the Premier of Western Australia, Roger Cook, will officially open the event on October 9.

The summit will gather industry leaders to explore strategies for creating a safer, more resilient, and sustainable tourism sector. Among the notable speakers are:

  • Christie Travers-Smith, Head of Retail and Travel EMEA Partnerships, Google

Julia Simpson expressed her excitement for the summit, noting, “This is our first major event in Oceania, and we’re thrilled to bring together some of the most influential leaders in Travel & Tourism. Their insights will be crucial in shaping the future of our sector, which is essential for global economies and job creation.”

Government delegations from over 25 countries, including G20 members Argentina, Australia, China, Mexico, South Africa, and the U.S., will attend. Other major economies, such as Nigeria, Peru, Thailand, and the UAE, will also be represented, along with the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Bahamas and Fiji.

A highlight of the summit will be the Investors’ Nest, where university students from around the world will pitch their innovative ideas for sustainable tourism in a Shark Tank-style competition. The winner will be announced during the closing of the summit.
