IATA, AWS Launch First Datathon to Boost Aviation Diversity

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is launching a virtual data marathon to stimulate the development of data-driven solutions to promote gender diversity in the aviation industry. The data marathon builds on the success of IATA's 25by2025 initiative.

“The launch of the 25by2025 initiative in 2019 prompted the industry to take a closer look at the gender diversity of its workforce and take steps to ensure it reflects the societies it serves. The IATA and AWS Diversity Data-Athon aims to further strengthen gender diversity in the industry, complementing IATA's existing diversity and inclusion awards,” said Jane Hoskisson, Director of Talent, Learning, Engagement and IATA diversity at IATA.

Registration for the data marathon will begin on March 22 and is open to professionals in the airline industry, including airlines, airports, software vendors, start-ups, system integrators (SIs), and any other organizations working in the data marathon. aviation. All participants will have access to an AWS environment that will allow them to create their proofs of concept. Importantly, all teams will have the opportunity to join training sessions on technical and business topics that will be delivered by AWS architects and industry specialists from IATA and IATA member airlines.

Submissions will be judged by an independent panel of IATA and AWS experts. Key criteria that will be considered will include the originality of the solution, its applicability in the aviation sector and the added value it will bring to further strengthen gender diversity in the industry.
