39th Annual Conference on Cuba, the Caribbean & Central America Slated for November

The Board of Trustees of Caribbean-Central American Action (CCAA) has rolled out an invitation to attend the 39th Annual Conference on the Caribbean and Central America, taking place from November 15-17, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida.

This year’s Conference, under the theme of “Cuba, the Caribbean and Central America: A New Era in Regional Integration”, will focus on the outlook for trade and investment in Central America and the Caribbean in the new era of U.S.-Cuba relations.

Panels will explore the implications and opportunities for U.S. and regional business, and how Cuba could impact overall economic development in the Caribbean Basin.

Additional discussions during the Conference will look at prevailing regulations as they apply to doing business in Cuba, as well as at some of the social impact areas where there has been functional cooperation over the years.

CCAA’s Annual Conference event, now it it’s 39th edition, has long been recognized as the premiere international forum for advancing U.S.-Caribbean Basin economic and trade dialogue, and is attended by leaders of government, the private sector, international institutions, and civil society from around the globe. This year’s Conference, with its focus on the nexus between the normalization of U.S.-Cuba relations, and the future for regional economic development, promises to be an important and exciting event.

A number of panels and roundtables have been slated for this year's event. One of them, entitled "The Economic Outlook: The Integration of Cuba into the Regional Economy", will look at Cuba’s potential role in global and hemispheric trade and investment, with an emphasis on how this could alter the existing regional systems.
Discussants will additionally look at some of the issues that Cuba will have to address in order to adjust to the new reality.

Some of the boldface names scheduled to attend this event and many of its sessions, include David E. Bernier-Rivera, Secretary of State of Puerto Rico; Donville Inniss, Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development of the Government of Barbados; and Vanessa Rubio, Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Government of Mexico.

CCAA is committed to promoting private-sector led sustainable economic development in the Caribbean Islands and Central American Isthmus and increase trade and investment flows to the small economies that are the beneficiaries of the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI).

CCAA was established to promote private-sector led economic development in the Caribbean and Central America, and for nearly forty years, CCAA has been the constant advocate for dialogue on the region’s economic needs and private sector priorities. In the broader context of the Americas, the countries of the Caribbean Basin represent a small percentage of the population and the economy individually, but as a region it is one of the United States’ major trading partners.

CCAA focuses on advancing a regional agenda by collaborating with its members as well as private and public organizations around the world. Its advocacy responds to and reflects a constituency, and because CCAA is neither single issue nor single country-focused, it is able to promote trade investment in all sectors that can contribute to a responsible and secure region.

The organization accomplishes its efforts to bridge the public and private sector by maintaining working relationships with critical stakeholders throughout North America and the Caribbean Basin.

The list includes, but is not limited to, the U.S. Government (including the Administration and Congress), regional governments and agencies, multilateral institutions engaged in policy or finance within the inter-American system, and private sector organizations that operate on a national or regional level.

CCAA also partners on an ongoing or temporary basis with organizations around the world that share the mandate of promoting stable and prosperous economies in the Americas.

CCAA’s programming is determined by its members and stakeholders. It is most recognized for hosting the Annual Conference on the Caribbean and Central America, the premier forum for promoting regional investment and fostering economic initiatives in the Caribbean Basin.

This Conference has long been known as the setting where policy can be made and where business is done. The 39th Annual Conference will be held from November 15-17, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Miami in Miami, Florida.
