JetBlue: Proud to Be the First Airline Landing in Cuba

Giselle Cortes, U.S. JetBlue Airline’s International Airport Manager, said in Havana that the company is proud to resume schedule flights between the United States and Cuba, August 31, with the first landing in Santa Clara.
During a press conference held at Hotel Nacional de Cuba, the executive praised the excellent collaboration with Cuban authorities to facilitate the operations at JetBlue’s 100th destination, the 40th in Latin America, and she described airports on the island as extremely safe, which have been greenlighted by the United States Transport Security Administration (TSA).
She underlined that the 99 US dollar fare includes high-quality service, passenger health insurance, and commented that travelers in Cuba can contact JetBlue’s representatives in international airports, where they’ll have the possibility to acquire the tickets by paying with Cuban exchangeable pesos.
“We want JetBlue to be the favorite airline in this market”, Cortes underscored.
She pointed out that the blockade established by the United States against Cuba stops U.S. citizens from traveling to the island nation as tourists; so, when booking online, the passengers are to choose one of the 12 travel options authorized by the Office of Foreign Asset Control.
Mrs. Cortes highlighted the presence of JetBlue’s Chief Executive Director, Robin Hayes, in the inaugural flight of the Airbus A-320 to celebrate the resumption of scheduled flights to Cuba after 50 years of interruption.
Plane tickets can be booked at www.jetblue.com, as well as travel agencies and airports.
