Paris Olympics organizers unveiled the iconic Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower to mark 50 days until the start of the Summer Games. This grand display on Friday emphasized the city's readiness to host the world for the quadrennial sports festival.

The Olympic rings, each 9 meters (30 feet) in diameter and made of recycled French steel, were mounted on the south side of the 135-year-old Eiffel Tower, overlooking the Seine River. This significant installation measures 95 feet in length and 43 feet in height, showcasing France's commitment to sustainability and celebration.

Thousands of athletes will make their way through Paris on boats along a 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) route on the Seine during the opening ceremony at sunset on July 26. This scenic parade is one of the many highlights as the city prepares to welcome the sports community to its historic landmarks.

The Eiffel Tower, affectionately known as La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), will be a focal point during the Games. Men's and women's beach volleyball matches will take place at the foot of the monument, with nearly 13,000 fans expected at the temporary Eiffel Tower Stadium on the Champ de Mars. This popular area is a favorite for picnics and celebrations.

In addition to the games, the Olympic and Paralympic medals will feature pieces of iron from the Eiffel Tower, adding a unique historical element. The tower's presence in the games symbolizes a blend of tradition and modernity, enhancing the event's prestige.

The Olympic rings will shine every night with 100,000 LED bulbs through the Paralympics, which commence on August 28. The Paralympics will host 4,400 athletes from 180 countries in 549 events across 22 sports, many of which will take place near Parisian landmarks such as Versailles and the Grand Palais.
