Devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles have claimed at least 10 lives, destroyed nearly 10,000 structures, and forced over 130,000 residents to evacuate. Among the hardest-hit areas is Pacific Palisades, where a massive blaze has scorched 17,000 acres and prompted mandatory evacuations.

Tourism and travel organizations have stepped up to assist affected communities and visitors. Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta expressed heartbreak over the destruction, highlighting the agency’s crisis communication efforts to provide accurate updates. “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fires,” Beteta stated, encouraging travel partners to share on-the-ground information.

Discover Los Angeles echoed similar sentiments, urging residents to register for the NotifyLA emergency alert system and directing donations to the Los Angeles Fire Foundation and the American Red Cross. “We are deeply grateful to first responders and committed to supporting our community,” the organization said.

Hotels across the city are prioritizing displaced residents. Several properties, including Hyatt Place LAX, Hotel Erwin, The Biltmore, and W Hollywood, are offering discounted rates. Airbnb is also providing free temporary housing to those in need.

Major hotel chains like Hilton and IHG have confirmed that their properties remain operational, with no reports of structural damage. Both chains are accommodating evacuees and offering flexibility for guests impacted by the fires, including waivers for cancellations and modifications.

Several iconic Los Angeles attractions, including the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Park, and the Getty Center, are temporarily closed. Universal Studios and CityWalk resumed operations on Friday, Jan. 10, after a brief closure, but other popular sites like the Rose Bowl Stadium and the L.A. Zoo remain shuttered.

Angeles National Forest is closed until Jan. 15, and major events at the Rose Bowl have been canceled to support emergency response efforts.

Despite the chaos on the ground, airports in the Los Angeles area have seen minimal interruptions. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) reported only 1% of flights canceled as of Friday morning, though airlines like Delta, United, and JetBlue have issued waivers for travelers needing to adjust plans.

Princess Cruises, based in Los Angeles, has expressed solidarity with the community. The cruise line is offering flexible cancellation policies for passengers affected by the fires, providing future cruise credits and refunds for those unable to travel due to evacuations or damage to their homes.

“Our hearts go out to all those affected during this challenging time,” Princess Cruises stated, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the community.

As firefighters work tirelessly to contain the blazes, the tourism and hospitality sectors remain focused on supporting evacuees and maintaining open communication with travelers. Relief efforts continue to grow, providing hope for recovery in the aftermath of one of Los Angeles’ most devastating wildfire events.
