Temporary Zip Line Set Up on the Eiffel Tower

Visitors to Paris can zip line from the iconic Eiffel Tower for a limited time. For the second time in three years, French mineral water brand Perrier has set up a zip line at the 1,063-foot-tall attraction, CNN reported.

The one-minute ride starts at the balcony of the tower about 380 feet up and ends at military complex Ecole Militaire. Riders will travel more than 2,600 feet and reach speeds of more than 55 mph.

According to Euronews, members of the public have the chance to experience the zip line for free if selected through an online draw on social media, with a total of 260 flights available before the ride closes.

Originally established in 2017 to celebrate the French Open tennis championships at Roland-Garros, this year's zip line also coincides with the Grand Slam tournament as well as the Eiffel Tower's 130th anniversary.

Last week, an illegal climber prompted officials to temporarily close the tower.
