4.300 Passengers Close Cruise Ship Season in Port of Spain, Trinidad

More than 4,300 cruise passengers arrived in the capital city of Port of Spain aboard the MSC Divina on May 29, as Trinidad and Tobago officially bid “bon voyage” to its 2013/2014 cruise season.

The first ever visit by a Mediterranean Shipping Company Cruises (MSC) ship to a port in Trinidad and Tobago, the MSC Divina is a spacious, ultramodern mega ship boasting a range of sumptuous amenities including a Broadway sized theatre, Swarovski crystal staircases, a state of the art infinity pool and exclusive yacht club.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Tourism, Senator the Honorable Gerald Hadeed as well as the Minister of Transport, the Honorable Stephen Cadiz, along with a delegation of local dignitaries, were on hand to welcome the ship as it docked at the Port of Port of Spain. The Ministers also took part in a crest exchange onboard the MSC Divina.

One of the largest cruise vessels to ever visit Trinidad and Tobago, the MSC Divina’s cosmopolitan guest list included citizens of China, Austria, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Portugal, Russia, the UK, USA and Switzerland.

Disembarking passengers engaged in a range of activities including tours of Port of Spain and the Western Peninsula, as well as visits to world famous birding attractions Asa Wright Nature Centre and Caroni Bird Sanctuary.

Several visitors also opted to try the local delicacy bake and shark at Maracas Bay, while many others got adventurous with hiking at the Covigne River, zip-lining at Macqueripe Bay, going underground at the Gasparee Caves or roughing it on a Trinidad Jeep Adventure.
