The African Diaspora Conference Closes in Barbados

The Eight Edition of the African Diaspora Conference, that began on Monday in Barbados, addressed the search for a renewed approach on the slaves trace in the Caribbean, and heritage preservation.
According to a statement from the organizers, the event that came to a close on September 19, went in depth into the cultural roots of the area and the preservation of regional identity.
It also tried to create a guide to tourism to attract the international market to the heritage of the area and develop a network of partners to promote and market these destinations, said the note.
The text adds that the conference was designed to create a deeper understanding of global relations and emphasize the cultural roots of Barbados in the transatlantic slave trade.
Barbados expects an increase in worldwide interest in its culture after the celebration of the Conference in the Caribbean island, assured the Ministry of Tourism.
These annual meetings stemmed from an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism of Bermuda, who sought to promote the development of Caribbean cultural heritage.
