Air France Increases Service between Cuba and Europe

Starting October 2015, Air France will operate an additional flight (Wednesday) to Havana, increasing its offer to 11 weekly frequencies during winter 2015.

Present in Cuba for the past seventeen years, Air France has become the leading airline between Cuba and Europe, supporting tourism development on the island.

Air France began serving Havana in 1998. On departure from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, the Company operates, by Boeing 777-300 equipped with 468 seats, a daily flight throughout the summer season, and an additional four weekly flights (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) in winter 2015.

Since 2011, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has been linking Havana from Amsterdam-Schiphol with 3 weekly flights in the summer (Monday, Thursday and Sunday) and 4 in winter (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday), operated by Airbus A330-200 with 243 seats.

Air France-KLM ranks as the European leader in trans-Atlantic service with its offer of 15 weekly flights and up to 3 daily frequencies between Cuba and Europe in the winter. In 2014, close to 420,000 passengers chose Air France or KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for their flight between Europe and Cuba.

In April 2014, Air France and Cubana de Aviación signed an interline partnership agreement allowing Cuba’s national carrier to operate flights to more than 30 Air France destinations in Europe and the Caribbean and enabling Air France to access Cubana de Aviación’s domestic market.

In May 2014, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) created a solid base for extended cooperation. The subjects discussed included notably a codeshare agreement and the means to further increase connecting traffic from Paris and Havana.
