Ambassadors to Sell Queen of the West to American Cruise Lines
Ambassadors International Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to sell Queen of the West to Blue Spruce LLC, an affiliate of American Cruise Lines. The 142-guest Queen of the West most recently operated seven-night cruises on the Columbia and Snake rivers roundtrip from Portland, Ore.
The vessel features 71 staterooms, four decks, a dining room, a show room, a lounge and a bar and grill. With this sale, Ambassadors continues to execute the plan announced in February to focus on Windstar Cruises and sell non-Windstar assets. Queen of the West was previously operated by Ambassador’s Majestic America Line, which shut down in November 2008.
Tim Beebe, a spokesman for American Cruise Lines, said more information about the Queen’s itineraries and operations would be revealed in the next few weeks. American operates four small ships, primarily in the U.S. East and South. It is adding a fifth ship in June.
