American Express Sells a Dozen Travel Service Offices to Altour

Travel Pulse has learned that American Express has agreed to sell 12 travel services offices to Altour, though the offices will remain part of the American Express Retail Network through Altour’s relationship with American Express.
The 12 American Express offices are geographically spread throughout the United States, from New York to California and from Illinois to Texas. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year. The American Express Retail Travel Network is composed of both owned travel service offices and members of the U.S. Representative Travel Network.
With the announcement, American Express and Altour said they are expanding an existing relationship formed in April when Altour became a member of the American Express U.S. Representative Travel Network. At the time, Altour also announced a joint program designed to strengthen and expand services for American Express U.S. Representative Travel Network and Altour’s travelers around the globe.
Altour became the official and exclusive provider of services for all American Express U.S. Representative Travel Network agency members. Member agencies are able to leverage Altour’s proprietary travel services to increase their leisure and corporate sales.
Among the world’s largest independent agencies, Altour has roughly $850 million in sales and 63 locations around the world. It specializes in meeting the needs of high-end and mid-market travelers. The company is one of the largest members of the U.S. Representative Travel Network.
