Bis Music to Launch “Cerrando Filas” DVD by Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor

Bis Music (www.bismusic.com), Artex’s Record and Musical Editing Company put out in Havana, Friday March 6, its latest DVD entitled “Cerrando filas” on the concert given by Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor on October 11, 2014, to celebrate the band’s tenth anniversary.

The launch took place at 11:00 am, Habana Sí store (23 and L. Vedado.) and at 3:00 pm, Arte Habana store (San Rafael No. 110. Centro Habana), both managed by Artex.

Both activities were attended by Maykel Blanco and the members of his band where they signed posters and talked about the audiovisual production, which was screened for attendees and passersby, as well as put on sale.

Maykel Blanco is an excellent Cuban percussionist, keyboardist, songwriter and producer. Since 2004 he has headed his own orchestra and worked with Musicalia (www.musicaliaonline.com), Artex’s artistic representation agency.

His comprehensive repertoire includes popular danceable music (salsa ortimba), versions of such hits as Félix Chapotín’s“Yo como candela”, and other genres like ballads, fusion and jazz. The orchestra is made up of drums, congas, minor percussion: bongo, bell and güiro, electro pads, keyboard, among other instruments.

In 2007 the group was given the award to the best concert in Paris. Its penultimate album ranked third in La Fiesta Cubana, held in France, and occupied the fourth position to the Best Song. In 2010 it received a plaque in Peru for being the Revelation Group of the Year, and the same happened in 2011.
